Individuals and groups learn in different ways; instructors have different teaching methods; and agencies and organizations differ in terms of their educational needs and available resources.
Structure of the Curriculum
The alcohol interlock curriculum is a structured according to 5 key modules that contain general information and a special section containing a more flexible and comprehensive set of resources designed for instructors:
Condensed Modules
Access to the condensed modules (Sections 2 through 6) is available to the public. Condensed modules contain a general overview of each of the identified subject areas and can be downloaded from the Curriculum website.
Instructor Materials
Access to the Instructor Materials is only available to registered users. Click here to register now. Each question in each module is associated with brief summary information designed for a handout and PowerPoint slides. In this way, handouts and PowerPoint presentations can be easily built based on the instructor's choice of modules and questions. The flexible design of these materials enables instructors to focus on the needs of different professionals at their own pace and convenience.
Its distinct modules can be used individually or holistically; and its user-friendliness allows the curriculum to be independently learned, or instructor-driven and disseminated to target audiences. The curriculum can be delivered in whole or in part to either staff or members of a given agency or a cross-section of representatives from a variety of agencies and disciplines. It can also be used as often as is necessary by different instructors.
The instructor materials section contains a range of visual materials, including pictures of devices, examples of reports from the device, and a 19 minute instructional video. This section also contains an implementation checklist, and checklists relating to working with vendors and service providers to enable practitioners to identify gaps in implementation. Templates and reference materials are included as examples for items on the checklists. A glossary of terms and a complete list of references are also associated with each module.
